Some of our products are made with natural materials including wood, stones, grass, cotton, silk, horn and bone. Where possible, we use natural dyes, vegetable tanned leather, ethically sourced silk, horn and bone.
Our metal ornaments from Haiti are made with upcycled oil drums. Our kantha items are made from repurposed saris in India.

General

Where are you located?

Our head office and shipping center is located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

What does the name Mango + Moose mean?

Our name is a fun collaboration between the nations where we work and our home country of Canada. Most all of our partner nations grow mangos, and Canada of course has moose.

What is an Artisan partnership?

We partner with organizations that are on the ground in the countries where we work. These existing groups are the most knowledgeable and equipped to facilitate holistic programs and work in areas of development and advancement in their specific region.

Why do you have a Canadian line?

We are a Canadian company. We believe the arts are vital to every society and this is our way to be apart of supporting local creativity.

How does Mango + Moose select the Artisans to work with?

We purposefully seek partnerships with like-minded organizations which work within the spirit of cohesive collaboration. Together we aim to make an impact in communities of those who are vulnerable due to poverty or injustice. Organizations can also apply at mangoandmoose.com.

What are dignified jobs?

A workplace where fair living wages are paid, safe and healthy work conditions are maintained and child labour is prohibited as is forced labour.

We partner with Artisan Entrepreneurs who are committed to creating a supportive work environment where everyone is respected and has a voice.

Why do we focus on job creation in developing nations?

At the heart of who we are as people is the desire to care for our families, provide for our children, and live freely. When we focus on trade instead of aid we empower everyone with the opportunity to succeed. Mango and Moose provides an opportunity for dignified work that is rare in the developing world. This work is a powerful way to alleviate poverty and promote sustainability.

What are vulnerable communities?

More than 2 billion people worldwide live on less than $1 a day – making the world's poor vulnerable to injustice. We work in areas where people are vulnerable to discrimination, trafficking, HIV/AIDS and violence. To have a way out of poverty, people need reliable jobs where they can earn stable incomes and provide for their families. Mango and Moose makes an impact in vulnerable communities by partnering with Artisan organizations to create dignified jobs.

How does Mango + Moose ensure fair living wages?

We collaborate with Artisan organizations who set fair living wages that allow them to grow their business sustainably while the Artisans earn dependable incomes. We ensure that Artisans earn wages that are fair based on the cost of living in their country.
